STREAM OF CONCIOUSNESS

At the Seattle Design Festival, our interactive installation, “Stream of Consciousness,” served as a vibrant conduit for connection and empathy among community members. The installation invites participants to reflect on their favorite places in the city by writing them down and placing them into colorful balls, which then travel down a swirling tube, creating a visual spectacle of shared experiences. On the other side, participants receive someone else’s ball, filled with the essence of another’s cherished spot, fostering an unexpected bond through the simple act of sharing.

 

The success of this installation was palpable, with over 2,000 participants igniting conversations inspired by one another’s memories and discovering new places to explore together. We witnessed the beautiful realization that many people share a love for the same locales, creating a tapestry of joy and connection that truly embodies the spirit of our community. This collective celebration of place not only highlighted the diverse tapestry of our city but also reminded us of the common threads that unite us all, inspiring a renewed sense of belonging and appreciation for the spaces we call home.
